Extending the Effectiveness of the Directive on Temporary Restrictions on International Passenger Flights to Myanmar
Restricting the flow of passengers on international flights is crucial in controlling the spread of COVID-19 in Myanmar, the directive on temporary restrictions on international passenger flights to Myanmar as preventive measures for importation of COVID-19 which issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports on 29 March 2020 was increased to 31 December 2020 (MST 23:59) with the permission of COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment National Central Committee.
The epidemic of COVID-19 is still high in most parts of the world and the new COVID-19 virus, which was first discovered in Britain, is spreading to other countries, including some Asian countries. To further prevent the risk of COVID-19 transmission via international air travelers into Myanmar, the effective period of the above directive will be extended up to 31 January 2021 (MST 23:59) by the approval of COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment National Central Committee.
On the other hand, to support the recovery of economic impact of Myanmar due to the effects of COVID-19 epidemic, Relevant Union Ministries are coordinating for International Commercial Passenger Flights to be resumed in accordance with health standards based on COVID-19 outbreak status, under the guidance of COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment National Central Committee.

TEMPORARY MEASURES TO PREVENT IMPORTATION OF COVID-19 TO MYANMAR TRHOUGH AIR TRAVEL ISSUE-2
- Landing at any airport in Myanmar will not be allowed for all international commercial passenger flights;
- All landing permissions previously granted by the Department of Civil Aviation are suspended.
1. The above temporary measures will not apply to relief flights, all-cargo flights, medical evacuation flights and special flights specifically approved by the Department of Civil Aviation.
2. The above temporary measures will also not apply to international commercial passenger flights which may be allowed on selected routes by the National Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 depending on the evolving epidemiological situation of COVID-19.
3. The temporary measures will be effective from 31 December 2020 23:59 Myanmar Standard Time (MST) up to 31 January 2021 23:59 MST, and supersede the Temporary Measures to Prevent Importation of COVID-19 to Myanmar through Air Travel issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports on 29 March 2020.
